Blowfish

Like a bloom of jellyfish, a sculptural Bocci pendant boasting 61 hand-blown glass lights floats over the main bar in the double-height void, while sea green and sand tones reinforce the underwater vibe – welcome to Blowfish Ocean Grill & Bar in Broadbeach.

This strikingly elegant, double-storey seafood restaurant on the Gold Coast takes its inspiration from mythical tales of seductive sea creatures, making for a serene, yet whimsical and immersive dining experience.

The ground floor channels the shimmering beauty of the ocean shallows, with sun-bleached timbers, brass accents, pearly white ceramic tiles, and a central marble bar reminiscent of The Whitsundays’ Heart Reef. It’s on this level patrons can choose to be seated in the more casual, alfresco area with curved booths enveloped by tropical plantings; at glamorous high tables for a pre- or post-dinner drink, or in the elevated main dining room under custom, coral-look lights gazing into the theatrical open kitchen with its bespoke seafood display of freshly caught crustaceans and oysters.

Meanwhile, upstairs echoes the magic of the ocean floor – a darker, more seductive space with the appearance of rippling water thanks to specially imported lights from Austria which create a dramatic effect against the walls and ceiling. It is also home to the private dining room, completely obscured from the remainder of the restaurant and boasting top AV equipment.
